Bioinformatics and Expression Analysis (BEA)

BEA- the core facility for Bioinformatics and Expression Analysis is focused on genomic analysis based on the Affymetrix, Agilent and Illumina platforms for microarray analysis. This includes gene expression and RNA splicing analysis, global DNA-binding and transcriptome analysis, epigenetic analysis including DNA-methylation and miRNA analysis and genome wide SNP and CNV analysis. We also run quantitative real-time PCR using the ABI platform.


BEA offers high quality and internationally competitive infrastructure, services and education in genomic technologies including associated data analysis. We offer comprehensive solutions from experimental design to completion of data analysis. The core facility is satisfying a need to conduct high throughput RNA (gene expression profiling), DNA (SNP and CNV) analysis as well as epigenetic studies focusing on the Affymetrix, Agilent and the Illumina platforms. The core facility is constantly developing new protocols and performing pilot studies, to validate novel microarray associated assays and methods. Upon request, we also provide knowledge to researchers or give lectures.


BEA provides infrastructure, expertise, service and training for:

  • Expression Analysis services using the Affymetrix, Illumina or Agilent platforms.
  • Genotyping analysis of SNPs and CNVs using the Affymetrix, Illumina or Agilent platforms.
  • Epigenetic studies using Affymetrix, Illumina or Agilent platforms. This includes gene regulation analysis by transcript mapping or ChIP-on-chip using Affymetrix or Agilent tiling arrays or bisulfate methylation profiling with Illumina bead-arrays.
  • Data analysis and Bioinformatics (quality control, significance analysis, functional profiling).
  • DNA/RNA extraction, preparation and quality control.
  • miRNA profiling using the Agilent or Affymetrix platforms.
  • Quantitative real-time PCR using ABI 7900HT enables gene expression analysis. We also run 384-well Taqman low density arrays (TLDA).
